A little guidance

Answers to the everyday details, from your first note to restoring Pro.

In Tune is preparing for its first App Store release. The app is not available to download yet.

The tuner cannot hear my instrument.

Allow microphone access for In Tune in iPhone Settings. Use a quiet room, pluck one string at a time and let it ring. Check the selected instrument, tuning and A4 reference pitch. An external audio accessory may change your active microphone.

What is included for free?

Standard guitar, bass and high-G ukulele tuning, chromatic mode, reference notes, a basic metronome with 1–4 beats per bar and all 24 major/minor chords with four finger positions each, color-coded finger guides and playback. Reference calibration, left-handed mode and both chord diagram orientations are free too.

What does In Tune Pro unlock?

All instrument presets, alternate and custom tunings, metronome subdivisions with up to eight beats per bar and all 408 chords with four finger positions each—1,632 shapes to explore. Pro is one optional in-app purchase, with a planned €4.99 base price in Portugal. Check your regional App Store price before buying. Both tiers have no ads and no subscriptions.

How do I try different finger positions for a chord?

Open Chords and tap a chord card. Above the fretboard, use the numbered Finger positions buttons (1–4) to switch between shapes. Each position shows its fret, notes and color-coded finger guide. Tap Hear it to listen to the selected shape. Swipe left or right, or use the arrows, to move between chords; each new chord starts at position 1. All four positions are included for every chord you can access: 24 major/minor chords for free, or the full 408-chord library with Pro.

How do I restore my Pro purchase?

Use the Apple Account that bought Pro, open In Tune and choose Settings → Restore purchases. Connect to the internet if needed. Apple handles payments and refund requests.

Can I practice without internet or microphone access?

Tuning, bundled reference sounds, metronome and chord diagrams work offline. Live pitch detection needs microphone permission; the other tools do not. Purchases, restores, external links and App Store reviews may need an internet connection.

Can I change the tuning or diagram layout?

Open the instrument selector to choose a tuning. In Settings, choose vertical or sideways chord diagrams, left-handed mode, language or A4 calibration. Choose your guitar headstock layout when selecting a guitar tuning. Alternate and custom tunings require Pro.
